the importance of breathing in yoga. Why is pranayama so important ?


As we all fail to understand the power of brain and the reason for miracles around us it always been with in us. The ability of the some of the greatest people in the world who seem to have unleashed the complete brain power always amaaze us.


Did Einstein,newton and other great people possees different level of intellegence than the average person ?

No, its not. But there is definitely something else, or something more that they have done that makes them higher mortals than us. what is it ?

its is the connect between Brain and Body. Once you are able to tap into the vast resources and unlimited power of the brain, you will be able to do even the most extradonary thing without any errort.

This connect is the key -- between body and brain. Some people embrace spirituality to acheive this connect . other choose other means.

The same things can also be acheived through yoga. More precisely through a most crucial part of yoga - the breath. Breath has the capacity to connect your body and ultimate brain power.
Yoga is the union of body and mind there by achieving the nirvana.


Pranayama is the special means of controlling the breath. Why do you need to control Breath ? How does breath control achieves body and mind connect ?

We all know the fundamental that you need oxygen to survive. More precisely your brain needs oxygen to survive. Oxygen is given from breath. So a specific pattern of the breath will allow you to exercise more control on the mind. And control on mind means control on your emotions and the way of your life.


Through yoga , especially pranayama its is believed that you can control the breath to control the mind. now that we have established the importance of breath in yoga exercises, lets look at the benefits of breathing in pranayama controlled breathing exercises will allow your muscles to relax in a systematic way which causes to relive tension.


A contracted muscle is the source of body pain. When we sit in a improper posture, walk with an improper gain it causes the unnecessay strain to some muscles. through yoga breathing these muscles will be relaxed.


Through breathing the intake of oxygen to brain increases substancially. When more oxygen is supplied to the brain the brain cells become active and you will look more relaxed with clear thinking.

Breathing tones abdominal area and improved the strength of the immune system.

There is a muscle that is called Diaphragm that separates the upper part of the body , heart and lungs - from the lower part of torso, i.e abdominal organs. Through yoga breathing, prana(life)yama, this diaphragm muscle realxes and causes great relief if you have abdominal related stress.
